REWRITING MYSTERY

Sir Grafton Elliot Smith

"Sir Grafton Elliot Smith (1871-1937):  A distinguished anatomist who, through a study of the Egyptian MUMMY, became interested in the history of mankind.  He considered mummification far too complicated to have been invented on more than one occasion.

The alternative was to derive all occurrences of it, as well as of metal-working, building with megaliths, and indeed all civilization, by DIFFUSION from a single source, Egypt.

His theory had simplicity as its sole merit.  Like all other hyperdiffusionist interpretations, it can only be maintained by rigorous selection of supporting evidence, and quite unjustifiable rejection of the many adverse facts."

Elliot Smith - Rediffusion reproof? Hyperdare?

Note:  To which I say to Warwick Bray and David Trump,  historical obscurities compared to Sir Grafton Elliot Smith:

Please get lost(er).  What you wrote was rude, unfunny (except possibly to yourselves) and unworthy of Penguin.

It is often the case that the most direct, least complicated explanations are the best.

Sometimes, it seems, though, that nothing is best (and nothing is better and nothing is revealed).

And what about him?
