THESE DAYS

I've been out walking
I don't do that much talking
these days
These days-
These days
I seem to think a lot
About the things that I forgot to do
And all the times I had the chance to

I'll keep on moving
Things are bound to be improving
these days
These days-
These days I sit on corner stones
And count the time in quarter tones to ten
Don't confront me with my failures
I had not forgotten them

  1. Still a very beautiful song. maybe even getting better with the years.

Made me want to throw down my cane and get up and WALK.

(Though at this point flight would probably be an equally attainable goal.)

    JB looks so darned YOUNG.

    Sigh.

    1. Nico's such an oddball, but I think she does a remarkably good job on this amazing song. I may have mentioned this before, but I first became aware of Jackson Brown though a magazine article in Cheetah magazine in 1967 where he was mentioned as one of the Orange County Three (the others were Tim Buckley and Steve Noonan). As you can imagine, he/they "photographed well," and he certainly came on a couple of years hence. The upper photo shows the place I went to boarding school as it looked in the 1860s. It's been a blue week, but hope springs, etc., etc. Curtis

  2. I hope next week will be less blue!! The four guinea pigs here send their best regards to you and your family. Spring is not half bad either.

Nice song and great photo! I want to run&dance too, but in bed again with a stuffier nose after a trip to the ballet yesterday. Onegin was pretty terrific though. This is of course not serious illness, but annoying. I'm wasting time I need to use for other and more important things.

Have a good weekend and hope the weather is pleasant on your side of the ocean.

    1. Linnea -- Hi. Feel better. So sorry you're ill. Caroline and I have almost recovered from our terrible colds. Jane is in Budapest this morning at the commencement of her two city (there and Vienna) series of performances with her handbells choir. Wish you could see them play -- they're terrific. She also plays piano in a chamber group on the trip. I was up early charting the progress of their flights. I'm off to exercise now and then we'll be touring Tuxedo Park to view our real estate market competition. This is a beautiful place but we're ready finally to move on (and on and on). Another morning of odd, unresolving news about the Malaysian airlines flight. It kind of made me uneasy about Jane's travels, but she's off on a Danube sojourn. Curtis

    2. Would have been lovely to go to her concerts! She is visiting some beautiful cities in the spring. What a treat!

It is interesting to find a new place. I live in a house my grandfather built, quite old-fashioned, but with a garden, and find myself devoted to the place to a degree I know I could not leave. Sometimes I want to be adventurous and move abroad, but the house keeps me here. I have great admiration when it feels right to move on. I'm too attached to my ancestor's and my piece of land it seems.

Glad you are recovered! I'm considering antibiotics with a rather heavy heart, but this could be some sneaky mycoplasma pneumoniae as I'm getting somewhat worse with a sneaky fever. Will call the doctor tomorrow. I strongly believe in saving antibiotics until really needed. Sigh.

The unsettling missing plane must be a one of a kind incident.
